Description

Electro Plankton is being produced by Japanese contemporary musician Toshio Iwai, and is being referred to as a "Touchable Media Art" game. The game places players in a water-based world. Within that world there exists ten types of "electric plankton" creatures. These creatures react to your touch and voice. Based on your touches and voice inputs, the game will output different video and audio patterns, modifying your voice with a variety of effects.

Game fanatics will find bonuses like classic NES music and the included Audience Mode outputs endlessly changing audio automatically with no player input for just pure listening pleasure.

The Japanese version of Electroplankton is extremely minimal in text, only offering a tiny snippet as a description for each of the ten different plankton. That's it. It's an experience that puts its focus on user exploration instead of explaining everything in detail.

Electroplankton is, if anything, one of a kind. It's an experience that's completely unique to not just the Nintendo DS platform, but to the entire videogame market. It at the very least has the potential to open up a much more untapped gaming genre: interactive toys.
